Pharmacy technician Course
Program Description
This course meets the model curriculum for pharmacy technician education and training program as developed by the American society of Health System Pharmacist (ASHP) for Pharmacy Technician professionals. The course includes classroom and lab instruction in the following areas: Personal/Interpersonal Knowledge and Skills, Foundational
Professional Knowledge and Skills, Processing and Handling of Medications and Medication Orders, Sterile and Non-Sterile Compounding, Procurement, Billing, Reimbursement and Inventory Management, Patient- and Medication-Safety, Technology and Informatics, Regulatory Issues and Quality Assurance. After the completion of the program, and successful participation in the certification exams through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Health career Association (NHA), the student will become a Certified Pharmacy Technician. Potential work locations where graduates may be employed include retail Pharmacies, hospitals, doctor’s offices, home health, hospice, long-term care, physician offices, clinics, and assisted living facilities.
COURSE OBJECTIVES – PHARMACY TECHNICIAN PROGRAM
To prepare pharmacy technicians with the knowledge, skills and abilities essential to assist pharmacists, deliver quality patient care and contribute qualitatively and positively to the healthcare industry. After completing this course, students will be able to successfully sit and pass their board examinations and will be able to assist pharmacists in dispensing medications and managing pharmacy operations that include filing prescriptions, maintaining inventory, accurately and safely dispensing medications and interacting with customers.

Admission Requirements
-Be at least 18 years of age
-Be free of communicable diseases and in suitable physical and emotional health to safely administer medications.
-Be a graduate of a high school or have a general equivalency diploma (GED)
Other Details
- Students should have a high school diploma or GED.
- The Pharmacy Technician Certification Board’s (PTCB) is the national certification exam.
- Numerous states now require PTCB certification to work as a pharmacy technician.
- Certain national and state pharmacy technician certification exams are available.
- Class days are 3 days a week for 12 weeks via zoom. (Course includes 80 hours of clinical at a local pharmacist)
- The cost is 1,500 with $500 due at enrollment and payment plan available for the balance.
